Nuno Machado Lopes graduated from City University with a degree in Systems & Management and went on to work for HSBC Markets for 2 years in London – enough to realise what he didn’t want to do.
In 1996 Nuno returned to Portugal after 20 years abroad to start a new project called the Paradise Garage, recognized at the time as one of the best live venue of its size in Europe. Bands such as No Doubt, Bryan Adams and Skunk Anansie all played there whilst Radiohead kicked off their worldwide OK Computer tour there with 3 dates.
During the following years, other projects followed such as IGMarketing, a marketing agency; Out There Records, an independent record label with Universal Music; Irish pub and an Italian restaurant along with a production company that worked with Heineken & MTV along with other great brands.
In 2005, Nuno met Tony Hsieh at a conference and was instantly convinced of the power of social media and how important it would be for businesses. It took him through a journey that included teaching post grad courses for bankers and marketing students, consulting with large brands and in 2006 he launched a social network called Kreedo – Brand Democracy. You Decide., a portal of real-time marketing that in 6 days registered 70,000 adolescents and clocked 10 million visits – winner of the World’s 8th Best Viral campaign of 2006. It was just too early.
In 2008, Nuno co-founded Silk Club which has become an international renown Japanese restaurant & club featured in the New York Times, Vogue, voted World’s Best Rooftop Bar and has been part of the World’s Finest Clubs since the day it opened to the public. In 2018, Nuno co-founded Mustik, a premium events company.
In parallel, since 2012, Nuno has been involved in the Portuguese Ecosystem, co-producing Vodafone Big Apps, redesigned Lisbon Challenge accelerator program, Founder Institute, spoken at numerous events and worked with over 150 startups cumulating in launching a book for entrepreneurs showing the other side of all the hype - Tudo Mudou, novamente.
Through out 2018 and 2019 Nuno is developing and implementing a new concept in coaching for founders that helps identify and work through the internal barriers that most will face.
