Just because you can, don’t.

in hall of shame

Pig FarmerI have a lot of respect for Mark Ragan and all his efforts including the social network he set up for professionals to share content with like minded people. In general most contribute great stuff – but ever so often, a real gem comes along.

I received theMyRagan Extra mail that comes with a little teaser and this turned out to be a massive tease.

Help! I was libeled on Twitter

What would you do if someone libeled you on Twitter?
A MyRagan-ite claims she is the victim of libel on the social network.

I clicked the link and went here. Though I do not want to be insensitive as there have been several bloggers and individuals that have had abusive behaviour thrown their way, I just couldn’t see it here. In fact it looked like a clumsily disguised attempt at getting people to click through, having read the enticing yet very deceiving headline, with the hope of getting users to comment, link and add the author on twitter.

Ironically it worked with me. But not because I’m fascinated with the compelling story of a lady that was insulted on-line and her quest to seek justice and thus rid her good name of the shame enthrusted on her. No, no, no. I’m actually curious as to what Twitter considers abusive behaviour and whether it will in fact react or simply ignore this appeal.

So how far will you go to get attention? Surely this an example of when a little common sense would ensure you think twice before publishing a post of little or no value. Feelings aside for a minute, just because we can shouldn’t automatically mean we do.

A MyRagan “What’s Hot” topic? Surely not……
