Pownced to the bitter end…

As I wrote earlier in Recession, Depression & Obsessions: Beware, it was inevitable that some start-ups or third party application suppliers would go under or cease to operate – which ever sounds better. Pownce has announced it is shutting down. The first of many I suspect… Web 2.0 seems intent on placing its future on the unknowns of advertising instead of added value through premium content that can be charged (LinkedIn).

Through an e-mail, Pownce communicated the end…

We are sad to announce that Pownce is shutting down on December 15, 2008. As of today, Pownce will no longer be accepting new users or new

pro accounts.

To help with your transition, we have built an export tool so you can save your content. You can find the export tool at Settings > Export.

Please export your content by December 15, 2008, as the site will not be accessible after this date.
