I subscribe to the MEO TV/Internet/Telephone service and have decided to change the name on the contract from myself to my company’s name as the service is used in my office and therefore must be paid by the company. So we contacted Portugal Telecom (who owns MEO) and were given a form to fill out and the necessary declarations and documents in order to finalize this trivial alteration.
When we returned to the PT office in Andrade Corvo, we were told that the system did not yet permit any change of contract as the IT team was still developing this module.
When I rang customer (dis)service, I was told the same. I then asked to speak with the supervisor that informed me that owing to technical reasons, only those that die could change their contracts. I’m glad that IT is sensitive to those who die and decided to create a module for the deceased – it’s a shame that they have not yet completed the module for the living, especially if you take into consideration the fact that there must be more people living using the service than dying, unless of course the service turns out to be extremely hazardous to your health.
What is even more disturbing is the fact that none of this is included in the general conditions which you sign, and like most, probably never bother to read. When I pointed this out common sense led them to ask for my contact and have someone call me that is not limited to knowledge base Q&A. To be continued…
This is a warning to all living users of MEO.
